Rivers Hoopers forward Peter Olisemeka has expressed delight after helping the club reclaim the Nigeria Premier Basketball League title and book a place at the 2027 Basketball Africa League. Hoopers sealed their seventh domestic crown with an unbeaten Final Four run in Port Harcourt, a year after losing the championship decider 74-72 to Maktown Flyers.
Olisemeka played a key role in the 88-76 victory over Gboko City Chiefs, finishing with 14 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. Hoopers then edged Maktown Flyers 92-90 in overtime to complete a perfect campaign at the Final Four.
"I'm excited that we won the championship and qualified for the BAL," Olisemeka said. "It has been a challenging season for me personally, but I'm happy that at the end of the day we achieved our goal."
The forward has urged the Nigerian champions to begin preparations early for the continental competition. Hoopers return to the BAL after missing the last edition and will look to surpass their third-place finish in 2024.
