The National Sports Commission (NSC) has moved to wrap up the cash rewards promised to Nigeria’s senior women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, and the senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress. NSC chairman Dikko said the commission was working with relevant government agencies to ensure the presidential rewards were brought to a successful conclusion.
Beneficiaries had already received title documents for three-bedroom flats in Abuja, alongside their National Honours of Officer of the Order of Niger (OON), duly endorsed by the President. Dikko reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to making sure all pledges made to the national teams by the Federal Government were honoured through due process.
The push to close out the financial rewards signals continued government recognition of the two teams’ recent achievements on the continental and global stage.
