Nairobi City Thunder were crowned 2025/26 Kenya National Basketball Champions for a third consecutive season after beating arch-rivals Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) 74-70 in Game Three of the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Men's Premier League Finals at Kasarani Indoor Arena on October 2, 2026. The win completed a 3-0 series sweep for Thunder, who had taken the opening two games 78-67 and 73-63 in Mombasa, extending their three-season unbeaten domestic run.
KPA opened strongly, leading 21-11 before taking a 27-18 advantage at the end of the first quarter and going into halftime ahead 35-29. Thunder rallied in the third period, with Garang Diing levelling the game at 37-37 and Derrick Ogechi putting the champions ahead for the first time at 39-37. Thunder closed the quarter 53-48 up.
KPA refused to surrender, and with Thunder leading 59-57 late in the final quarter, Jason Keseng tied the game at 59-59 before Salim Kisilu's three-pointer put the Dockers back in front at 62-59. Tyler Ongwae replied with a three-pointer to make it 62-62, and the teams continued to trade the lead. With KPA leading 70-68, Eugene Adera cut the deficit to 70-71, and KPA failed to convert in the closing seconds. David Deng sank three free throws to seal Thunder's 74-70 victory.
Ogechi was named the 2025/26 KBF Men's Premier League MVP, Ongwae took the Finals MVP award, KPA's Keseng was named Most Defensive Player, and Thunder head coach Brad Ibs was recognised as Coach of the Year. The champions now turn to the Basketball Africa League (BAL) qualifiers.
