Guinea’s Nabaya Basket Club qualified for the Elite 16 of the Basketball Africa League 2027 after winning two of its three matches in the West Division group stage in Tripoli, Libya. The Guinean champions recovered from a 96-90 defeat in their opening game to secure the required qualification.
Nabaya then defeated Energie Basket du Bénin 80-57 before closing the group phase with a 78-68 victory over Liberia’s NPA Pythons on Friday. Known as the Sofas, the club will now turn its attention to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, where the West Division Elite 16 will take place from November 10 to 15.
The next stage offers Nabaya another opportunity to advance in the BAL. The club’s objective is to move beyond the Elite 16 and pursue a historic qualification for Africa’s premier club competition.
