MFM Women's Basketball Club reclaimed the NBBF/Zenith Bank Basketball League title on Saturday, edging First Bank 66-64 in overtime at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos. The victory delivered MFM their third championship in four years and ended First Bank's pursuit of a record-extending 10th title.
MFM controlled the first three quarters, winning them 11-6, 13-12 and 19-17 to carry a 43-35 lead into the final period. The Elephant Girls responded with a 21-13 fourth quarter, forcing overtime at 56-56.
MFM held their nerve in the extra period, taking it 10-8 to seal the championship. The club completed the 2026 league season unbeaten, including three wins over First Bank.
