LeBron James confirmed on Monday that the Philadelphia 76ers were one of five teams he weighed in free agency, speaking at 76ers media day alongside new teammate Jaylen Brown and incumbent stars Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and rookie VJ Edgecombe. "I had a list of 5 teams that I was interested in. You saw my agent in his little podcast, you saw his whiteboard…whatever, I love him to death," James said.
James stopped short of declaring Philadelphia his final stop, choosing instead to focus on the present. He did not confirm whether his current contract will be the last of his career, saying only that his priority is becoming the best version of himself.
Brown, who arrived from the Boston Celtics in the trade that sent Paul George the other way, addressed the adjustments required when chasing success with a talented group. He pointed to the role sacrifice will play as Philadelphia integrates its newcomers.
James echoed that sentiment. "In order for us to be great, we have to do things that just aren't comfortable," he said. "We have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable." Embiid added: "New team, new guys, lots of talent. It's just about taking it day-by-day. There's going to be ups and downs throughout the season. You have to make sure you learn from the downs."
