BC Caisse nationale de sécurité sociale (CNSS) defeated BC Hatari 61-53 in an all-Kinshasa derby on Sunday to clinch the women's title at the 43rd edition of the Coupe du Congo basketball tournament. The final was held at the Stade des Martyrs gymnasium in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
BC Hatari controlled the opening half, leading 23-15 after the first quarter and 34-33 at the break. CNSS shifted the momentum in the third quarter, erasing the one-point halftime deficit and pulling ahead 49-44 heading into the final period.
CNSS extended a five-point margin to eight in the fourth quarter, sealing a 61-53 victory and the top step of the podium.
In the women's third-place match, another derby this time from Lubumbashi in Haut-Katanga province, BC Makomeno overwhelmed BC Lupopo 84-48.
