Club Atletico Boca Juniors bounced back from their semi-final loss to Rytas Vilnius to thrash the RSSB Tigers 93-62 in the third-place game at the FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2026 in Beijing. The Argentine side led from start to finish, becoming the first South American club on the podium since Brazil's Sesi Franca won in Singapore in 2023.
RSSB coach Henry Mwinuka was forced to field a depleted squad after injuries ruled out Craig Randall II, Teafale Lenard Jr, Nisre Zouzoua, Tyler Bey and Jonathan Galloway, while Johnny Hamilton missed out despite travelling to China. Boca reached a double-digit lead early in the second quarter and took a 23-point advantage into halftime, with all 12 players scoring and 15 first-half assists shared around.
Francisco Caffaro, the 26-year-old centre and Basketball Champions League Americas Finals MVP, needed under 15 minutes for 12 points and four rebounds. Leo Lema added a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double. Boca dominated the glass 65-31 and outscored RSSB 48-14 in the paint. The Tigers, the first Rwandan representatives at the Intercontinental Cup and reigning Basketball Africa League champions, finished fourth. Beijing Royal Fighters placed fifth and the Shanghai Sharks last.
