The Basketball Africa League (BAL) has officially unveiled newly refurbished basketball courts in Côte d'Ivoire, Nigeria, and Senegal, marking a major physical infrastructure update for community sports facilities across West Africa.

In Saint-Louis, Senegal, the court refurbishment took place at the Gaston Berger University, providing students and local youth with upgraded playing surfaces, improved drainage systems, and refurbished seating areas. The structural upgrades are intended to allow regional institutions to host standard games and accommodate growing local audiences.

In Abidjan, the BAL collaborated with local sports authorities to overhaul a key urban basketball facility. Works included resurfacing the court with high-durability synthetic materials, installing modern hoops and backboards, and upgrading the perimeter lighting systems for night use.

In Lagos, engineering teams replaced damaged asphalt sub-bases, applied professional-grade court coatings, and reinforced boundary fencing on a heavily used municipal court to improve safety and longevity. Speaking during the handover events, league officials stressed that physical infrastructure remains a vital foundation for sports growth, enabling local leagues to organise structured tournaments and providing safe environments for youth programmes and training camps. Further construction and renovation work is expected to continue under phase-driven development programmes.
