Amadou Gallo Fall, president of the Basketball Africa League (BAL), arrived in Gabon on Monday for a working visit running until October 7. The trip is a strategic move to explore the possibility of establishing a BAL franchise in the country.
Upon arrival, Fall held high-level meetings with the president of the Gabonese Basketball Federation (FEGABAB), the director of the National Sports Office (ONS), and the special sports adviser to the head of state, a former international player. The discussions focused on reviving basketball in Gabon and developing youth sports.
Key topics included a plan to renovate local infrastructure, such as playgrounds and community halls, and the modernisation of the Palais des Sports de Libreville. The goal is to create an elite basketball ecosystem that could see the return of the Panthères to international competition and the hosting of major FIBA Africa tournaments.
