Continental basketball is heading to Hoima City. Namuwongo Blazers have confirmed that the Basketball Africa League 2027 East Division Group D qualifying tournament will be held in Uganda at the Hoima City Arena.
The four-day event, scheduled for October 23 to 26, 2026, will feature five regional clubs competing for a spot in the next round. Blazers Chief Executive Officer Daniel Muttubol Obol expressed pride at Uganda's role as host, noting the club's commitment to delivering a top-tier event alongside FIBA Africa, the National Council of Sports, and the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA).
"Participation in the Road to BAL presents a significant opportunity for our club, our players, and Ugandan basketball to showcase the continued growth, talent, and competitiveness of the game in Uganda," Obol said in the official release.
Making their second consecutive appearance in the competition, the Blazers will aim to finish in the top two and advance to the Elite 16 tournament in Nairobi, Kenya, set for November 24 to 29, 2026.
