Dallas Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale said she wanted to set a different tone after a passive showing in Game 1, and she delivered on Wednesday with a 45-point performance that powered a 108-100 overtime home win over the Golden State Valkyries. The total set a new WNBA playoff record, a stark contrast to her seven-shot outing in the series opener.
Ogunbowale also finished with 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals, going 12 of 23 from the field, 5 of 8 from beyond the arc and 16 of 18 at the free-throw line for a plus-2 rating.
"We just wanted to come out with a different intensity. We felt like we got pushed around out there when we played in San Francisco," Ogunbowale said. "And especially me personally, I don't feel like I was aggressive."
She forced overtime by knocking down a game-tying step-back corner three-pointer with 4.1 seconds remaining in regulation. The win levels the first-round series at 1-1.
