Rwandan handball champions APR have strengthened their squad with the signings of Emmanuel Kubwimana and Yves Kayijamahe from Police HC. The pair are part of APR’s travelling contingent for the African Club Championship, which started in Luanda.

Centre-back Kayijamahe is expected to add experience to APR’s backcourt, while the left-winger brings pace and an attacking threat. Both played key roles in Police HC’s run to the final of the Rwanda Men’s Handball Championship playoffs last season.

According to sources familiar with the deals, each player has been offered a two-year contract worth a monthly salary of Rwf1.5 million, with an additional Rwf8 million signing-on fee. APR have been drawn in Group A alongside FAP of Cameroon, Benin’s Flowers HBC and hosts Petro Atlético de Angola.

APR earned their place at the continental tournament after winning the Rwanda Men’s Handball Championship in last season’s playoffs. Their participation follows Police HC’s landmark 2025 African Club Championship in Casablanca, Morocco, where the club recorded their first-ever wins at the event before exiting in the last eight.
