The Road to the Basketball Africa League (B.A.L.) 2027 qualifying tournament begins on September 1, 2026 and will run through the end of November. Organised and managed by FIBA Africa, the competition offers clubs a path into the elite 16-team final stage of the 2027 B.A.L.
More than twenty teams are expected to compete across the qualifying rounds. The finalists will join the Basketball Africa League, a competition organised jointly by FIBA and the National Basketball Association (NBA).
The Road to the B.A.L. serves as the entry point for African clubs seeking to reach the league’s seventh edition. FIBA Africa oversees the qualifying structure, with the final stage reserved for the top sixteen clubs.
The 2027 edition continues the established pathway linking domestic and continental club competition with the B.A.L. regular season.
